Watch out -- conspiracy theory on the loose!!!
A little bird told me that Darth Halliburton used the dark side of the force to cause that Senator's head to explode ... it's all falling into place.
Whatever, like 51-49 or 50-50 really makes any difference.
Here's some knowledge for you -- parties suck. Parties don't have "beliefs", they exist to get people elected. If parties really expressed actual coherent worldviews, would there only be two of them???
In a winner take all election system, the voting pressures will inevitably cause all the minor parties to fall away or consolidate until all you're left with two parties.
[Look at countries that use parliamentary elections -- they have lots of minor parties. Why? Because in Canada, if you get 25% of the vote, you get 25% representation in Parliament. In the United States, if the Bull Moose party gets 25% of the votes in every district, they get a grand total of ZERO seats in Congress. So what does the Bull Moose party do? They get one of the more established parties to take on some of their issues and they cease to exist. OR -- more likely, one of the other party co-opts their issues and puts the Bull Moose out of business.]
If you really get excited about the Democratic party, you're drinking the cool-aid.
Tell me, what do Democrats stand for? Other than the color blue, apparently?
They stand for not being Republicans and getting themselves elected. That. Is. It. Vice versa for Republicans. How in the world can Rudy Giuliani be in the same party as Trent Lott? What views do those two share?
In any case, the Democrats only have control of the Senate because of Jim Webb -- man, there's a real liberal standard-bearer.
Fuck party politics.
