Supreme Joke
I held out on commenting on the physical disintegration of the Supreme Court. The thing is just too damn symbolic -- it truly was equal irony under Law, as ideologues of all stripes took the opportunity to get a zinger in.
When something like this happens, it is amazing how people try to infuse it with some special significance. It is part of human nature to try to give things meaning. Sometimes -- actually, most of the time, however, things happen for no reason whatsoever. Or more accurately, events happen because hundreds of "causes" coming together at one time.
My two cents -- the immutable and infallible laws of nature strike back against the transient and fallible laws of man.
