Counterfactual Confusion

You know how a lot of times people will tell an awkward or nervous person to "Just be yourself." What if being awkward just how that person is when he is "being himself". Telling someone to "be yourself" is just not very helpful advice. It would be a hell of a lot more accurate to say, "Act like somebody really cool, confident, and interesting would act if THAT person was acting like himself."

It would be funny to golf with a blind person and tell him that he had gotten a hole in one when he really didn't.
