Reality Check

Because you know I love nothing more than reading the post mortems in the Boston newspapers, here are some of may favorite fan quotes:

As a Sox fan, I am absolutely sick to my stomach.

What is the purpose of playing a whole season, to get to this point and then completely collapse?

I for one, am sick and tired of obnoxious NY fans rubbing salt in the Sox wounds. And the bitter pill to swallow is, they are right.

I like that one, but this one seems to hit on a new theme in Beantown -- maybe getting your hair cut and acting like a professional instead of a frat boy might be the way to go.

No More Characters, lets try "Character" instead!

And with the final word, here is Boston Globe sportswriter Eric Wilbur:

There will be plenty of eulogies over the next couple days, so we’ll spare you one here now. But know this. This Red Sox team, the vanilla Red Sox for nearly half a season, choked at the wrong moment. The Yankees are their Daddy for reasons unknown. As one New York fan on the Manhattan subway following Boston’s loss in Game 2 put it, “You take those players, put pinstripes on them, and they win the World Series.”

And he’s right. We don’t know why he’s right, but he is.

It's one thing to beat your opponent, friends, it's another thing to make him like it.

Yes, I do enjoy this.
